Students learn idioms and expressions they can use in everyday conversation as well as how to read and write Chinese characters; additionally there will be extensive focus on grammar and vocabulary studies throughout.

Chinese is the world's most widely spoken native language, boasting over one billion speakers worldwide. An analytic language, it relies on sentence structure rather than inflectional morphology for marking its grammar functions. While Mandarin and Cantonese remain its primary forms, other varieties exist such as Yue (spoken in southern China) Zhuang (an ethnic Chinese group who speak an ancient form of Yue) etc.
